Y4 Pine 2019-2020
Year 4 - Pine Class
Miss Roberts, Mrs Glyn-Jones and Mrs Wallace
Welcome to our class page! Here you will be able to find out about important information and any upcoming dates and events for our class.
Reading books should be in school everyday and children are expected to read at least three times a week. We love listening to your children read - if they don't have their book with them, we can't!
Maths and English homework will be sent out every Friday and should return to school by Tuesday the following week. If your child is struggling with their homework, please pop a message into their homework book and we can help them during school time.
Children will receive spellings from their spelling groups to learn throughout the week. In addition to this, they will also receive a list of spellings from the year 3/4 spelling list which they will be tested on during assessment week.
Sports 4 Kids will take our P.E. session on a Monday afternoon, it will be outdoor P.E. (Netball) so outdoor kits will be needed. Children will also be taking part in Judo on a Wednesday afternoon, they will need an indoor kit for this.
Have a look what we are doing this half term...
Our English this half term will focus around the book, 'Romans on the Rampage' by Jeremy Strong. We will be learning how to write informal letters, diaries and newspaper reports!
Watch our Chariot Racing chants!
Our Topic this half term is Romans. We are hoping to be able to answer the question ‘Why are the Romans so powerful and what have they done for us?’ We have already found a Rome in an atlas, ordered events about The Roman era on a timeline and looked at maps to explain how the Roman Empire spread. We’ve been busy!
We really enjoyed our first Judo session this week. Well done to Grace who won games master. We are looking forward to seeing who gets to wear the black belt next week!
We are learning about living things and their habitats. We can name living things that are in our local environment and we have already learnt how to classify by classifying ourselves into different groups.
