Year 5 had the pleasure of going to the ‘World-famous‘ Liverpool Philharmonic Hall to listen to some wonderful live music by their very own orchestra! We had a lovely afternoon!

This half term we are studying the Ancient Egyptians and this week we have been writing instructions on 'How to Mummify'. Therefore, we decided to mummify our own tomatoes to leave for 40 days!

BREAD DAY!
 
This week we got to make our very own Christmas bread! We had a range of different breads being made: brioche, wholemeal and white bread. We worked so hard to make our designs come to life. Take a look at some of them and our making process below...

This week we have been writing balanced arguments about deforestation. At first we found it hard to be balanced because we were so against animals' habitats being ruined but by the end of the week some of us and realised the reasons for deforestation happening and even swayed to being for deforestation! This week we have been practising many skills in our Hockey sessions. We are enjoying building up our skills so that we can play small games in the next few coming weeks.

This week we have been busy! We have loved creating our own sequences in gymnastics and filming them so we can look and then improve our performances. Then in DT we have been tasting bread so that we can research products that already exist as this will help us with our designing next week.

This week was Anti-Bullying week. We spoke about how it was important to always be kind and how certain words can affect one persons mood. To link with our computing topic, children created their very own anti-bullying video which they edited themselves on iMovie!

This week in PSHE, we spent some time discussing scenarios with partners who we are not used to working with. It was lovely to see the children working so well together.

Topic - One of our students took their family on a walk and told them all about our Industrial Revolution learning after seeing this in a source that we were using. Well done - very impressive! 
 
English - This week we showed off our acting skills in English! We each acted out a small chapter from Street Child and performed it to each other using Miss Roberts as a narrator.

Maths - We used a maths game to practice our mental addition and subtraction methods. We had lots of fun while learning and practicing our fluency skills too.

Each Monday children will receive spelling words to learn for the following Monday. It is really important that children spend time learning these words each week. In addition to this, at the end of the half term children will be tested on some of their Year 5/6 words. These can be found bellow.
